The results are in! It has now been proven in a groundbreaking validity study, that Tengai Unbiased can, without human interference, conduct and measure standardized and objective blind interviews. In addition, our conversational technology assesses personality traits correlated with work performance. All according to Psychometrics Sweden AB that just finalized their independent validation study of Tengai.
The validation study was conducted independently by renowned Psychometrics Sweden. This is the first time a world unique research study is conducted on a physical robot’s performance (or chatbot), in a dialogue format. The purpose was to validate the connection between candidates’ answers and personality traits correlated with work performance. The chosen traits have previously been scientifically proven by psychometrics professionals to correlate to work performance.

And now we have scientific evidence showing that our robot interview can conduct and measure chosen personality traits, best correlated to work performance. This validation study is groundbreaking for the robot interview and when Tengai’s CEO, Elin Öberg Mårtenzon, got the results of the validation study her reaction reflected the same excitement:
“Early on we knew that we were on to something unique and the results of the validation study prove that we were right” She continues, “The results from the study aren’t just groundbreaking for our industry but is also important for the whole job market. Now job seekers can be assessed in a fair and accurate way through a validated job interview, that measures personality traits that correlate to work performance. We are creating history by proving how new technology can bring recruitment to the next level.”
Unique validity study
This is extremely important for us because now we can prove that Tengai’s scoring is completely objective and done without any human interference. Which is helping recruiters and hiring managers to make better decisions. And it’s also ensuring candidates a fair interview experience without any chance of discrimination. The validation study was conducted by Anders Sjöberg, PhD and Sofia Sjöberg, PhD from Psychometrics Sweden AB, who has been working with recruitment assessment, algorithms and discrimination for over 20 years.
“The validity study confirms that Tengai can ask questions that are relevant for work performance and can interpret the answers independently, without human involvement. This is supportive of Tengai’s validity, and implies that Tengai can be used to achieve a more unbiased interview process. This is a first step towards replacing the traditional job interview with an unbiased robot interview with Tengai.” – Anders Sjöberg, PhD, Psychometrics Sweden AB.
Today, Tengai is actively being used by recruitment and staffing agency TNG. TNG was initially a part of the development of the robot. Now organizations like trade union Vision, municipalities Upplands-Bro, Linköping and Vänersborg, and various companies in the FMCG (Cloetta) and financial sector (DnB) have used Tengai in TNG’s unbiased recruitment and staffing offers.
