Welcome to my corner of the Tengai-blog!
Food For Thought is a place for me to share some more personal insights and highlights with you. Being a CEO at an HR-tech start-up is both challenging and an incredible job and I constantly learn something new.
So in this corner of the website I want to share what personally inspires and drives me every month. Plus some of the latest updates from Tengai AB. I hope you enjoy this new segment!
– Elin Öberg Mårtenzon, CEO at Tengai AB
My Thoughts in March 2020
I want to start by addressing the extreme situation we are in. As the COVID-19 continues to spread, our thoughts go out to anyone who has been infected or impacted. At Tengai, all employees have the choice to work remotely. This freedom and flexibility is something that’s already been highly appreciated, but even more now. I hope that you, your family, friends and colleagues are taking the necessary precautions and are safe and well.
Even though this unimaginable crisis is creating uncertainty in the labor market, there are also industries that have enormous recruitment needs. And where the interview process still is a weak point throughout the chain. So we’re still planning to launch Tengai Stand Alone, our leasing service where you clients can rent their own own robot. As well as, introducing our new software Tengai Recruit, where you now can tailor the Tengai Performance Indicator (TPI) and follow your recruitment process in real-time.
We can’t mitigate the coronavirus. But we can adjust and implement safe and competent solutions to lessen the damage and create a more sustainable job-interview on the labor market where equality and safety for all – are central elements.
In this Food for Thought I wanted to focus on recommending some different things you can read/watch during your downtime this week.
The Robot Interview is Validated!
In the beginning of March, we finally recieved the results from the validation study conducted by Anders Sjöberg, PhD and Sofia Sjöberg, PhD from Psychometrics Sweden AB.
They have been working with recruitment assessment, algorithms and discrimination for over 20 years. So it was a big deal for us to get the positive results.

Listen to the Chad & Cheese Podcast
Chad Sowash and Joel Cheesman have been fans of Tengai since the start and they even came to visit us here in Sweden. The duo always has great insights and sharp commentary in their popular podcast.
Here are some two of my favorite episodes:
Check out the Recruitment Brainfood Newsletter
I also wanted to highlight Hung Lee and the Recruitment Brainfood newsletter for always being a great resource and inspiration. A great newsletter and source of information with relevant articles and news for the whole industry.

Tengai on Swedish National Television
Here is the 3rd episode of “Rapport från 2050″, SVT’s new humorous show, where Erik Haag and Lotta Lundgren explores future trends. But there are some misunderstandings… Tengai is presented as a solution for the future, even though we already have several clients all around Sweden today! And I can also understand Lottas questions after meeting with a robot for the first time. Robots are still a very new phenomenon and it can feel strange the first time you interact with one.
It was great seeing Tengai on national television but I want to clarify that Tengai is not the final step in a recruitment process and is not developed to replace humans! The interview robot is a tool for recruiters to make data-driven hiring decisions and create a fair candidate experience.
Here is a little behind the scene video from October, when the episode was recorded!
